What is psychology?
Psychology is the study of the human mind and its functions; especially those that affect a person’s behaviour. Psychologists look for the underlying causes of certain behaviours and the mental processes involved. As psychology is a scientific study, it uses systematic and objective procedures for observation, measurement and analysis, underpinned by theoretical knowledge.
Psychology is also about genuine human connection: the power of having someone there to “just listen”. Many people struggling with personal problems or mental illness find it difficult to talk to someone about their experiences, as these experiences can be overwhelmingly negative or traumatic. Talking to a psychologist is helpful because whatever the problem may be, they have most likely encountered it before, and can help to ease some of the fear or shame you might be feeling.
How we help
At 3Ways, we believe psychology is integral to a person’s health and wellbeing. Everyone goes through moments of stress, anxiety and depression from time to time. If you’ve hit a low, a psychologist can guide and support you in an objective, non-judgemental and highly professional way. Additionally, if you have a mental illness, receiving professional help and getting the support you need is essential to your health and wellbeing.
