Eat Better to live well

At 3Ways, we believe that to live well, it’s essential to eat well. A balanced and nutritious diet, rich in vitamins, minerals and proteins, is integral to leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with regular exercise (and a positive outlook!), your diet can assist you to maintain a healthy weight and dramatically reduce your risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes.

Eating well also makes you feel great,  boosting your self-esteem and confidence to achieve your goals. The mind is a powerful tool, and eating well helps you feel mentally in control of your body and self. Eating well also assists you to maintain a healthy weight or lose weight if needed. Eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals replenishes your cells, resulting in robust internal organs, good digestion, glowing skin, shiny hair, and many other benefits. This means you not only feel great, but look great!

When we eat lots of fatty foods with little nutritional value, we often feel sluggish, lethargic and irritable afterwards. This is no coincidence—fast foods, snacks and sweets like burgers, chips and chocolate are highly processed and full of articial substances. They may make you feel momentarily full and give you a “high” (due to the sugar content), but this feeling is soon replaced by a “low”—grogginess and irritation. Additionally, sugar is addictive, meaning that even if you feel full, you might continue eating to fulfil sugar cravings. This can lead to overeating, weight gain, and an increased risk of obesity-related diseases.

Why is it important to Eat Better?

To maintain optimum all-round health

To maintain a healthy weight

To replenish cells and shed toxins

To support your body’s internal systems

To reduce your risk of obesity and disease

According to the 2012 Australian Bureau of Statistics Australian Health Survey, 2 in 3 Australian adults and 1 in 4 Australian children are overweight or obsese. Overweight or obsesity (high BMI) is the second highest risk factor contributing to disease in Australia, with dietary risks being the first. It’s absolutely clear that having a balanced diet, alongside regular exercise, is vital to living well.
